The Excitement of Scuba Diving

Scuba diving is as exciting as it sounds and ranks among one of the most always-wanted-to-do hobbies. It gives you a unique experience of a world that many others will not dare to explore. Scuba Diving is most popular in resorts and sea-sides where the water is very clear. Mexico, Thailand, and the Bahamas are some places which are among the top diving destinations of the world where one can learn to Scuba Dive.

Scuba diving requires certification. To learn to scuba dive involves both theoretical and practical lessons. If you planning the scuba lessons over a vacation, it makes more sense to finish the theory beforehand and keep maximum vacation time for the practical lessons. There are institutions that offer lessons for a semester and there are sporting associations and stores that offer classes for a few weeks. Sometimes there is also an extra equipment rental fee.

Most importantly, to learn to scuba dive, one needs to know how to swim in the deeper waters. Scuba divers-to-be are also taught all aspects of safety. They instructor will educate the student about the Scuba Equipment, water conditions and some sign language as well. The scuba equipment consists of the buoyancy compensator or the vest that can be inflated and deflated, the regulator or the hoses that connect the vest, and the Air Tank, the tank, mask, fins, boots, etc. Prior to getting into the water one has to make sure that the vest is filled with air and he/she is breathing through the regulator. The mask should be worn on the face as well. The regulator comes with air, depth, and time gauges.

Choose a diving school and instructor of repute. Make sure the instructor is adequately qualified and experienced. It is recommended to always scuba dive with a buddy. Buddies who dive together stay together under the water and check each other's gear from time to time. There is always an extra tube called the octopus from one's regulator for the buddy to take his breath from, in case his stops working.

Once in the water the diving is done in stages and very gradually to help the body adjust to the pressure. There could be pain in the ears and teeth. Nowadays, Scuba Diving Equipment is computerized and clearly tells how slowly one needs to decompress. An experienced scuba diver can opt for standard and quality equipment that goes a long way in keeping the diver safe underwater. Learning to scuba dive can be one of the most enjoyable experiences ever.
