Millions of children are born everyday around the world, and yet each pregnancy is unique for every woman. There could be no two pregnancies that are similar to one another because there would always be a difference in terms of symptoms or effects.
Women who are more in touch with their bodies are able to truly "know" and "feel" the exact time that they experience the 1st signs of pregnancy. However, there are also cases wherein the pregnant moms-to-be are not even aware of their delicate condition. There are those who get caught unprepared because they did not easily recognize the 1st signs of pregnancy up until the time that they are already approaching the delivery of the baby.
Because of the extensive range of symptoms and the varying 1st signs of pregnancy, women all over the world find it difficult to pinpoint the exact beginning of motherhood.
Consulting a doctor is one of the most common methods used by women to establish if she is indeed pregnant. However, one of the best ways to tell if one is undergoing pregnancy can be done simply by being in tune with the female body and being on the look out for the 1st signs of pregnancy.
One indicator of pregnancy for women who experience regular menstrual cycles is a sudden missed or delayed period. However, this indicator may not always be true for all types of women since a late menstruation is a normal occurrence for women who have irregular periods. Girls may easily dismiss the thought of being pregnant when they mistake "spotting" for a light period. Referring to this lack of a menstruation as an indicator may not be reliable at all times especially since delayed periods can be caused by lifestyle changes, stress or medications.
Changes in the breasts are also a telltale sign of a possible pregnancy because these are associated with child bearing. In the early stages of a pregnancy, the breasts are usually the first body parts that are affected. Women may feel tenderness as well as pain in the breast area during these stages. The breasts may also become sensitive to stimuli. Again, this should not easily be counted as the 1st signs of pregnancy because women are also experiencing the same symptoms during menstruation. There are cases wherein these changes may be attributed to a particular food or medications.
Nausea and vomiting, commonly referred to as morning sickness (although it may happen anytime of the day), are one of the common 1st signs of pregnancy. Women are said to be pregnant when they experience a sudden aversion to a food scent or taste. Ingesting a glass of lukewarm water and saltine crackers can easily solve the problem.
Exhaustion is also said to be one of the 1st signs of pregnancy. There are times when soon-to-be-mothers are bothered by extreme tiredness after going through their regular round of activities. Some find it difficult to stay awake and may insist on taking afternoon or evening naps. There are also those who regularly frequent the bathroom while some encounter bloating or belly cramps. Although these symptoms all point to pregnancy, it cannot be definitive for all cases.
Women should take note of the subtle changes in their body as well as their personal experiences before jumping into conclusions. However, seeing a doctor or taking a pregnancy test still remains to be the most credible way to confirm if a woman is indeed pregnant.
