Smart Scuba Diving Habits to Make Your Own
Although scuba diving may seem fun filled and easy, old-timers will tell you stories for hours not only to share their adventures but to make sure you know how to be safe under the water. The primary objective of any scuba diver with years of experience is to impart what they have experienced so that you can become a better diver in the long run. Many people will also read from the PADI website which has everything from learning how to become a certified scuba diver to the type of gear that you have to have. What you really need to take away from all of this is that you ought to learn how to be efficient. Efficiency relates to many aspects of scuba including how well you breathe and how quickly you are able to get your suit on and ready to go.
Most experienced divers understand that by controlling how much air they breathe during a dive, they can stay under much longer. By breathing naturally, experienced divers know that they can actually make their air last much longer, which seems oxymoronic at best. Novice divers will use the most air because they do not know how to breathe naturally while submerged.
Learning to breathe underwater basically comes down to diving more frequently to develop the technique. You will feel much more relaxed each and every time that you go under, which only comes with experience. Though this seems very simplistic, it is the best way to improve.
There are a lot of little tricks and tips that often times are learned with experience or from others who have more dives under their belt. To make sure that you always have the safest possible experience, keep your Diving Gear up to par at all times. A common thing that many novice divers feel is that they are not heavy enough to be successful while scuba diving. This may cause you to breathe harder than normal, using up too much air, and make your trip much shorter than it should have been. By doing this, your air will be reduced faster than you think. So, make sure your BC (buoyancy compensator) is totally empty of air because it is possible to have trapped air bubbles.
In the first part of the dive, you should make sure to equalize and do it regularly. Divers with experience advocate going through the equalization steps before you enter the water. The explanation is that your ears will be geared up for the upcoming experience. After every other foot, once in the water, you should do this again. You are able to circumvent any ear difficulty when diving and no doubt this is beneficial. From time to time you may find that one ear is not working like the other one, just tilt that particular ear upward to the top of the water.
If exploration of the oceans, and seeing the coral reefs of the world, is the goal of yours, you should really think about getting your PADI certification. Always take your sport very seriously because there are dangers, as you know. So always prepare and follow the rules to avoid the possibility of problems while under water.
